Deception Pass Engagement Shoot

I met with Mathea and Brenden for their Deception Pass State Park engagement shoot back in November 2023 right before I moved to Seattle, Wa. We took these photos at Rosario Beach. Mathea, who just happens to be an amazing hair / make up artist, recommended this gorgeous place to me and I am so glad she did. I mean come on?! This place is incredible.

About Deception State Park

Deception State Park is one of the most visited state parks in Washington. The park is open during the summer from 6:30 am until dusk and 8:00am – dusk during the winter. There you will find gorgeous views water views, cliffs and of course the icon bridge.

To visit Deception State Park, a discover pass is required. The annual pass is $30 or the day only pass is $10. If you are going to be visiting a lot, I’d definitely recommend going ahead and getting the annual pass. To purchase your discover pass, you can visit HERE.

Good news! Your furry friends are allowed at the park but must be leashed at all times. P.s. please bring your dog to your photoshoot with me.

Fun Fact : Deception State Park got its name from Captain Vancouver because he felt it “deceived” him. He initially believed Whidbey Island was a peninsula!

When should you go to Deception Pass State Park?

Because Deception Pass State Park is the most visited state park in Washington, you can imagine this gorgeous place can get busy. To avoid large crowds, I’d recommend going there on the weekdays. If possible, I’d also recommend going earlier in the day.

Deception Pass State Park is open year round and offers gorgeous views all year long depending on what vibe you are wanting. You can check here for any closures due to weather.
